Outfit #23 Xmas party

Last Friday was my company's Xmas party. It's a chic event where almost everybody is dressed up. I like to dress up but I try not to go over the top as well. I think I managed that quite ok. I got many compliments on the party without showing too much skin.
The black dress is from H&M. It is quite comfy, a little loose to allow for a great dinner. The leopard peeptoes are from a cheap Turkish store in Mannheim. I don't quite remember what the name of the store was but they were only 15€ and they are the most beautiful and comfortable I could imagine. I have much pricier shoes that don't even come close. The jewelry is from the Dominican Republic << click >>.
My makeup is quite simple. There is not much to say. I should have taken the big camera anyway but I always forget... The lipstick is Mac's Russian Red. The perfect matte red. I absolutely adore the color and it lasts forever!
This is my hair. I bought one of these huge hair donuts from H&M. Maybe, I'll show you another tutorial how to do it. I love the clean and elegant look of hair buns. This thing is perfect. It just didn't stay up because I forgot to put bobby pins. My hair is just too sleek for any hairdos.
And last but not least... My new iPhone cover :) I love it! Thank you, honey...
Sorry for the bad image quality. The last thing I think about when getting ready is to take pictures with my DSLR.

Outfit #22 New In... Black Tops

Besides mint tops I also bought black airy tops. As I'm into mint recently, I paired them both with my mint pants.

The only downside of these airy tops is that I have to hand wash them.

Outfit #21 New In... Mint Tops

I love airy colorful tops and blouses. It's simple but still elegant.

These two beauties I've found in el Conde in the Dominican Republic for less than 5€ each. Perfect for my vacation...

Outfit #20 Business Look

This was my business look for the way to Beijing. I even got a blazer but it was just freaking too hot to wear on the way...

Pants by Zara, blouse by H&M, blazer by New Yorker, shoes by Deichmann

Actually, I survived almost two working days in this outfit because I started the day with a 2h train ride to a business meeting on the day of our flight. Otherwise I would have chosen something else for the plane and the weather. Between the meeting and the flight, I worked on my notes, some more background information on the physical matters and company. We went straight to the airport (1.5h by car, 11h flight) and straight to the Chinese company. No time to shower. I didn't see any showers at the airport in Beijing either (is that a German thing?) but I wished I did. Thus I'm glad I had some refreshing wipes for a small touch up and only changed the blouse at the airport.

Btw how do you like my suitcase? I got it at the Taipei Nightmarket in Shilin when I went to Taiwan with my dad. I love the color, the size and the fact that it turns 360° on its four wheels... All that for only about 25€.

So anyway to my makeup.

Face makeup

1) Instead of foundation, I was wearing the pink Korean Skin 79 Super BB cream with triple functions: whitening, UV protection SPF25 and wrinkle improvement which I've bought in Taiwan as well (500NT = 12.50€). I applied it using my fingers. Either I've got the right skin color or it really adapts but I've never quite believed that. How does the BB cream know which color I have?

2) Powder: Manhattan clear compact #75 beige (brush: Ebelin professional)

3) Bronzer: P2 sunshine powder #030 Bali heat (brush: Ebelin professional)

4) Blush: Essence LE flower grunge "Be Flowerful" (brush: Ebelin professional)

Eye makeup

My eye makeup was simple. It's my go-to-look. It's fast and simple. Only matt neutrals.

1) All over the lid: Essence Ballerina Backstage LE - Eye soufflé #01 dance the swan lake (application: finger)

2) Outer corner of the eye: Maybelline Color Tattoo #40 Permanent Taupe (application: finger)

3) Eye shadows: P2 matte dream #050 rose charm and #070 grey pleasure (brushes: Sigma tapered blending brushes E40 and E35)

4) Eye Liner: brown Catrice Gel Liner #020 It's Mambo Nr.2 (brush: Sigma eyeliner brush E05)

5) Lashes: Shu Uemara eyelash curler, Maybelline False Lashes Volume Express black waterproof mascara

5) Eyebrow Powder: Catrice Eyebrow Set (brush: Essence eyeliner brush)

Lips

1) Revlon Colorburst Lipbutter #050 Berry Smoothie

Glasses from Taiwan

Glasses from the optician are THE shopping tip for those traveling to Taiwan with bad eyesight.

My eyes aren't the best, either. I'm shortsighted with -1.75 in my left and -2.5 on my right eye. With contact lenses it's even -0.25 worse.

As glasses are freaking expensive in Germany, my last pair was like 250€, I went to an optician in Taiwan. After retesting my eyes (still same old shortsighted), I decided to buy one extra pair of glasses and another pair of sunglasses. For both, I only payed 95€ (3800 NTD), including frames and glasses. Of course, if you buy frames from some fancy label, it will be more but the glasses themselves aren't expensive at all.

The other great thing about my new glasses - they fit my Asian nose perfectly. Normally, glasses really hurt my nose after awhile.

I especially love the sunglasses because I don't like to wear contact lenses when going swimming... Also, it's better for the eyes to give them a break from the contact lenses and let them "breath" ;-)

To my outfit:

I'm wearing a black coat from Primark (Fall 2012), black leggings, black suede boots from Deichmann (Fall 2011), beige dress from Forever18, coral belt from the Dominican Republic (3€), a black bag from Taiwan (15€), of course also the new glasses as well as a dusky pink and gold necklace (5€) from the Shilin Nightmarket in Taiwan.

Outfit #18 - Maid of Honor again

I've said that many times already, right? It's the year of the weddings. My friend married in a castle in my parents' city. It was a nice day, not too warm, almost a little chilly but well, it was fine. The sun was out as well. My friend looked gorgeous. Unfortunately, I can't show you the bride because she wouldn't appreciate it at all... She wore a short white wedding gown with a bell-shaped lower part. The hair was done by a hair dresser and the makeup by Douglas.

All I can show you is my outfit. I wore the Max Mara dress from the Metzingen outlet haul << click >>, Buffalo pumps. My clutch was from Bijoux Brigitte, a present from a friend. The bracelets are from H&M, the necklace from a Chinese perl factory in Beijing and the earrings are made of Larimar from the Dominican Republic.

I made a simple French braid staring from my left temple down to the right ear, then twisting everything to a little bun and fixing everything with hairspray and bobby pins.

Here's also my makeup. Since I've stayed in the same color family through all weddings, it's almost the same makeup as in Switzerland.

Here are my products:

  1. Maybelline Matti-Teint foundation in Natural Beige
  2. Maybelline Coverstick #24 green corrects redness
  3. Maybelline pure.cover mineral concealer #01 nude beige
  4. Astor Anti Shine Mattitude #005 powder
  5. Essence Ballerina Backstage LE - Eye Soufflé #01 dance the swan lake - as a base all over the lid and under the brow bow.
  6. Maybelline Color Tattoo #40 Permanent Taupe (#35 Tough as Taupe in the US) in the outer corner of the eyes to deepen the area.
  7. Maybelline Color Tattos #20 Turqoise Forever (#40 Tenacious Teal in the US) on the whole lid, as well as an eyeliner on the lower lash line, also on the lower water line.
  8. P2 eye dream #030 (Morning Blues) to set the Turqoise eye liner and blend the eye shadow.
  9. Catrice gel eyeliner #020 (It's Mambo Nr.2) in dark brown as an eyeliner on my upper lash line.
  10. Rival de Loop eye brow pencil in dark brown.
  11. P2 Sunshine Powder #030 Bali Heat as a bronzer.
  12. ELF Blush #90421 Berry Merry
  13. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick #235 Warm Me Up
  14. Maybelline False Lash Effect Volume Express - black waterproof
EDIT: I almost forgot my beloved new mascara, the Maybelline False Lash Effect Volume Express in black waterproof . The head is very flexible and its brush looks like eye lashes but it works wonders!

Outfit #17 - Official Event at the University

Today we had an official event for various companies that came to the university. Not necessarily a job fair, it was supposed to stimulate mutual understanding and promote collaborations between the university and external companies. It's twice a year.

Therefore, I decided to go with this black blouse dress from Esprit which I haven't worn forever. I got that in highschool which is like TEN years ago. Oh god, I'm getting old... but it's still cute :)

Anyway, I decided to pair it with my nude peeptoes from Payless (see my Chicago haul << click >>), H&M bracelets and matching handbag from H&M as well. My makeup is very simple - just brown tones, bronzer, blush and lipstick.

The nailpolish is from Petites by Scherer #113 Island Smoothie. I think I got it in New York a couple years ago when I forgot to bring nailpolish... Today, I wore it on my finger and toe nails but I think I like it better on my feet because the result is a bit streaky on my hands. It has this metallic light pinkish finish which is so cute... Have you seen Essie's new metallic line? A little like that but Essie has better quality.

Do you know where I can get those nailpolish racks that all the youtube gurus have? I really want one for my new appartment.

Outfit #16 - Salsa

Here's another Salsa outfit. It's great for hot summers without being too revealing. The hot pants are from Orsay. They were on sale last year and I've got them also in white, olive and black (5€ each). The top is from New Yorker. I like how simple it looks from the front - just like a regular tee - and it got all the details in the back.

It's also a great outfit to wear Mac's Russian Red (THE most perfect matte red lipstick on this planet) with simple eye make-up. Sorry, all my pics from my makeup were blurry :(

Btw, I've got new dancing shoes for Salsa and latin social dances - Masha BR21S from the brand Capezio. My boyfriend said it's a great brand for dancing shoes. Since he's a dance teacher, I fully trusted him with that... Otherwise I would have bought Diamant shoes which is also a famous brand for dancing shoes.

Capezio - Masha BR21S in champagne

I bought them on Kleiderkreisel << click >> which is a German website to sell and buy clothes / shoes / accessories / cosmetics. It was my first time buying something but the transaction went well. The girl who sold them to me bought them in size 5.5 US which is supposed to be EUR 35.5 but they were too big for her. I've got a US 6-6.5 (37 EUR size) and they fit perfectly. I got them for 45 € instead of the normal 70 €. For me, it was a great deal. They are comfortable and I've already danced a couple rounds Salsa this week-end...

Outfit #15 Salsaparty

You might have already seen my dress from Urban Outfitters from my Chicago Haul << click >>. I wore it yesterday night at a Salsaparty in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim. I love how flowy the dress is, like butterfly wings... If it was warmer, I wouldn't have worn the leggings but it was pretty cold and the party was outside on a terrace.

The nude pumps are from Taiwan, from the nightmarket for like 12 EUR... I love to buy shoes in Taiwan, it's crazy. They've got like the biggest diversity for the best prices. The quality is quite good, too.

Outfits #13 and #14 as Maid of Honor

I chose blue dresses for the civil and church weddings.

For the civil wedding I wore my Chinese Qipao dress. It's made of silk and is hand-tailored. I absolutely adore the dress and couldn't be more satisfied with the result of the tailor.

For the church and the big wedding party, I wore a blue-turqoise H&M long dress (49,99€). I love the colors, especially because it matched the lake so perfectly. No kidding, the lake looks like the Carribean Sea... I had to shorten the dress because I'm way too small for that dress. The tailor made a really good job, I think. It looks like it was sold this way.

The funny thing is, since I haven't posted any pictures of the bride, we got like a million congratulations because people thought that we got married in Switzerland... ^.^ just too cute... But I would definitely also wear white, not blue.

EDIT: I forgot to post the accessories...

The bag is also from China. I bought it from the same silk store as the first dress... great quality, same fabrique. Since it's dark blue, I also wore it with my second dress.
The necklace (~10 EUR) and bracelets (~3 and 5 EUR) are from H&M. The earrings are made of Larimar, which is a Dominican gemstone... I got them, when I bought some paintings on the street because they didn't have enough change for me - only unbelievable 2 EUR. I'm pretty sure, they would have been like 20 EUR in the gift stores of the hotels. I absolutely love those earrings!

Outfit #12 + Makeup: Color Blocking

Ever since I've seen these bright colored pants on other bloggers, I've thought about buying some on my own... I found some really great ones in pink in the Dominican Republic for only 10€. Even there, they're made in China ^.^ Anyway, I first only intended to wear them for my dance events but I soon got the hang of it and decided to wear them in my daily life as well...

I wore this outfit for a dinner party at my friend's house.

As I mentioned, the pants are from the Dominican Republic (10€), the top from Amisu (10€), the cardigan from Forever 18 (14€) and the pumps are from Buffalo (69€).

For the makeup, I wanted a bright lipstick to go with my pants, so I decided to wear Revlon Colorburst #045 Raspberry. Therefore, the eye-makeup is rather simple - black eyeliner and mascara. I also didn't use too much blush and bronzer to keep it simple and clean.

But to contrast the pink, I still decided not to repaint my nails and kept P2 #590 Who cares. Since I only colorblocked the pink with a hint of turqoise on my nails, it's not over the top but still fun for spring time. Looking at the pictures now, I think it would be nice to wear turqoise earrings as well. Maybe next time ˆ-ˆ

Makeup products:
  • Essence Ballerina Backstage LE - Eye Soufflé #01 dance the swan lake - as a base all over the lid and under the brow bow.
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo #40 Permanent Taupe (#35 Tough as Taupe in the US) in the outer corner of the eyes to deepen the area.
  • Astor Anti Shine Mattitude #005 to set the cream eye shadows.
  • Catrice Gel Eyeliner #010 Black Jack with Jack Black.
  • P2 matte dream eye shadow #010 black attitude to set the black liner.
  • Catrice All Round Mascara #010 blackest black.
  • Rival de Loop eye brow pencil in dark brown.
  • P2 Sunshine Powder #030 Bali Heat as a bronzer.
  • Wet'n'Wild #832E Heather Silk as a blush.
  • Rimmel Lip Liner 1000 kisses #014 Wild Clover
  • Revlon Colorburst #045 Raspberry

As you might know now, I absolutely love bright colors. I still think, one has to be careful with color blocking because it's not about wearing any bright colors together but about being more courageous about colors and make them unite in one outfit. For me, it's a fun spring and summer trend ˆ.ˆ

But how about you, how do you like color blocking? Go or No-Go?

Outfit #11 + Make-Up: Greek Lunch with friends

So this was my casual lunch outfit. I went to a Greek restaurant with my friends. I love teal and turquoise colors but sometimes it can easily look tacky - like ugly bridesmaid dresses with puff sleeves - just as bad as pink puffy dresses that make you look like Miss Piggy. Anyway, I try to avoid that ^.^

The tank top is from H&M (~5€), the pants from Amisu, sandals from the Dominican Republic (3€), the necklace is from Forever 21 from my Chicago haul << click >> and the coconut belt was a present from my boyfriend. The nail polish is from P2, a drugstore brand from Germany (#590 who cares?).

I thought it would be nice to pair the outfit with a turquoise eye makeup. Btw, I absolutely adore the Maybelline Color Tattoos. I've got three different colors and they are long lasting, beautiful, pigmented, everything I could ask for... I would just love to have a cream matte color, there's only a white sparkly one. When my Essence eye soufflé in #01 dance the swan lake is used up, I'll buy it anyway because the Essence one was from a limited edition.

So here are my makeup products.
  1. Essence Ballerina Backstage LE - Eye Soufflé #01 dance the swan lake - as a base all over the lid and under the brow bow.
  2. Maybelline Color Tattoo #40 Permanent Taupe (#35 Tough as Taupe in the US) in the outer corner of the eyes to deepen the area.
  3. Astor Anti Shine Mattitude #005 to set the cream eye shadows.
  4. Maybelline Color Tattos #20 Turqoise Forever (#40 Tenacious Teal in the US) as an eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line, also on the lower water line.
  5. P2 eye dream #030 morning blues to set the Turqoise eye liner.
  6. Milani Liquif'eye metallic eye liner pencil #01 black to tightline the upper and lower lash line to make the lash lines appear thicker than they actually are.
  7. P2 matte dream eye shadow #010 black attitude to set the black liner.
  8. Carrie All Round Mascara #010 blackest black.
  9. Rival de Loop eye brow pencil in dark brown.
  10. P2 Sunshine Powder #030 Bali Heat as a bronzer.
  11. Wet'n'Wild #832E Heather Silk as a blush.
  12. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick #235 Warm Me Up
Tip for Asian eyes:
I always set my eye liners with eye shadow or powder because of my Asian eye form. It's not really monolid but still the crease is quite close to the eye which smears out every eye liner without additional help.

Outfit #10 - Smooth Criminal

Although I'm not a big fan of Carnival, my group had a performance on "Rosenmontag" (In Germany it's on Monday, not Tuesday like Mardi Gras).

We danced to Smooth Criminal from Michael Jackson. Thus, here's my Outfit. It's basically only black and white. The hat is from New Yorker (5 EUR), the white button-up from H&M (15 EUR), the vest from Orsay, the black shirt underneath from New Yorker (~10 EUR), pants from the Dominican Republic, shoes from Deichmann.

The Nailpolish was P2 #650 Fever which used to be P2 #221 Charismatic.

For the Make-Up...
It was more on the heavy side because it was for the stage. Everything as to be so much more dramatic.

Here are the products:
  1. Catrice Photo Finish Foundation #050 Deep Bronze on the outside of my face
  2. Maybelline Jade - Mati Teint Make-up in Natural Beige - for the inner parts of my face like the T-zone and part of my cheeks
  3. Jade - cover stick #24 (green corrects redness)
  4. Maybelline - pure. cover mineral concealer #1 (nude beige).
  5. Astor - Anti Shine Mattitude Powder (# 005) to set the foundation and concealer.
  6. P2 - Bronzer - Sunshine Powder #030 (Bali Heat)
  7. Sleek Blush - Scandalous
  8. Essence - eyebrow pencil #02 (brown).
  9. ELF - mineral eyeshadow primer
  10. Essence Ballerina Backstage LE # 01 Dance the Swan Lake - Eye Soufflé
  11. Essence Ballerina Backstage LE # 03 Grand-Plié in Black - Eye Soufflé
  12. Essence Eyeshadow #01 Chill Out (Shimmery white) for the inner corners of the eye and as a highlighter underneath the eye brow
  13. P2 matte dream Eyeshadow #010 black attitude for the outer corners of the eye (also to set the eyliner later)
  14. Astor Eyeshadow #740 Silver to blend
  15. MNY eyeshadow#625 (shimmery dark black) - to darken the outer corner even more
  16. Catrice Gel Eyeliner #010 Black Jack with Jack Black to line my upper and lower lash line and doing a little wing
  17. Catrice - All Round Mascara Waterproof #010 Blackest Black
  18. Essence Lip Liner #08 Red Blush
  19. Mac Creamsheen Lipstick - Brave Red
That just got me thinking - I need to buy the Mac Russian Red... Can you believe it? I can't find a Douglas store which sells MAC products.... *grrr*

Outfit #9 + Make-up

Finally, a cold weather outfit... It's normally too dark outside to take any good pictures but here we go :).

Since it's almost always warm inside, I like to wear layers over layers. This is a 3 layer outfit for the university. Underneath the black body from Tchibo, I wear another black spaghetti top and underneath the pants (Levis) two pairs of leggings... it's freezing outside... I found this cute little salmon colored pullover at Tally Weijl - it was reduced to only 10 EUR. They also had a deal of three for the price of two but I didn't like any of the others.

And here's a close-up to the make-up to my outfit. I'm sorry, there were no good close-ups for the eyes but they basically look like the other brown eye make-ups. I just switch between the products - the result is the same more or less...

The products:
  1. Jade - cover stick #24 (green corrects redness)
  2. Maybelline - pure. cover mineral concealer #1 (nude beige).
  3. Astor - Anti Shine Mattitude Powder (# 005) to set the concealer.
  4. Essence - eyebrow pencil #02 (brown).
  5. P2 - Bronzer - Sunshine Powder #030 (Bali Heat)
  6. Alverde Mineral Rouge #2 (Cherry)
  7. Rimmel 1000 Kisses - Lipliner Pencil #014 (Wild Clover)
  8. Mixed Lipsticks
    • Alverde Lipstick #55 (Rosy Caramel)
    • P2 - Pure Color Lipstick #059 (Copacabana)
  9. ELF - mineral eyeshadow primer
  10. Essence Ballerina Backstage LE: 01 Dance the Swan Lake - Eye Soufflé
  11. P2 - matte dream eyeshadow #050 rose charm all over the inner eye lid and up to the eyebrows
  12. Catrice - eyeliner pen - Kajal Designer #150 (Up&Brown) at the outer corner of my eye lids to darken it (smudging it with the tool on the other side of the eyeliner pen) - it's a great taupe color
  13. P2 - matte dream eyeshadow #070 (grey pleasure) on top of the smudged catrice eyeliner pen (has the exact same color)
  14. Catrice - gel eyeliner #020 (It's Mambo No. 2) to line my upper and lower lash line and doing a little wing
  15. P2 - matte dream eyeshadow #020 (brown chic) on top of the gel eyeliner to set it and avoid smudging
  16. Nivea - Extreme Resist Volume and 24h hold mascara waterproof #01 (black)

Oh and this is how I look, when I'm outside - fully packed with hat, ear warmers, tube scarf and jacket. That's why I don't ever bother what to do with my hair - it's messed up by the hat anyway.

Outfit #8: In vacation

I know it's cold outside and I wouldn't actually wear this now - maybe with some boots and only if I'm driving a car and don't have to walk.

Here's a little vacation outfit post from the Dominican Republic. This is how I would go out dancing Salsa. We actually shot a little Salsa tutorial in this outfit. I love the top - it's so free and loose...

The top and the leggings are from H&M. The skirt is from New Yorker. I wore just little eye make-up, based on nude tones. It was too hot for make-up anyway.

Outfit #6 +Make-up

Some more of my tutoring outfits... One of my students told me, I'm wearing less and less clothes each day and they're looking forward to the next day. oO haha...

Leggings, cardigan and the yellow top are all from H&M, the tube top underneath and the skirt from New Yorker. Don't know why but the leggings are grayish taupe not petrol, as they appear on the pictures...

Here's my Make-up. I like it green although I don't wear it that often...

I used the following products:
  1. Jade - cover stick #24 (green corrects redness)
  2. Maybelline - pure. cover mineral concealer #1 (nude beige).
  3. P2 - feel good mineral powder #030 (beige desert) to set the concealer
  4. Essence - eyebrow pencil #02 (brown).

Outfit #5 + Makeup

Monday was my first day of tutoring freshmen and that's what I wore.

Dress (I think it was supposed to be a top but I'm small so I wear it as a short dress) and Cardigan are both from Forever 18, Leggings from H&M.

I just did a very easy daily make-up based on brown shades...

Outfit #4

Time for another outfit... I just bought these white pants at New Yorker last week-end and I ♥ them (only 7,95 EUR ^.^). The red tanktop is from H&M, the black shirt from the US, I don't remember, where I bought them but the store probably doesn't exist here anyway...

Since it was so warm, I decided to do a French Braid with a little twist, starting from the left side of my head and slowly working my way down to the right side... It wasn't easy taking this picture, I can tell you... haha it kinda looks like I had highlights or white hair but it's just the sun
:)

My Make-up is captured in this post: Make-up #3.

Outfit #3 and Make-up #2

So this is another outfit. I just bought the cardigan last Friday and I had to wear it as soon as it got colder ^^

The cardigan and the top are from H&M, the jeans from Amisu, the shoes from a cheap store and the belt from Basler.
